PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIOS
Photographs were almost always developed at a local developing company but could you have them develop the film that might have some erotic content? Or who could you go to seeking out a photograph that was considered erotic or even having a same-sex pair have a portrait of each other taken? Almost in any city or town there is someone wanting those questions answered and in Portland there were several. It should also be stated that not only were they making sure that home photographs were being developed but they too were shooting homoerotic male photography and some even became photography studios taking photos for gay magazines.
The first found was Rick Dion Studio. Rick was a photographer who produced erotic and physique photographs for men in the 1960s into the 1970s.
Not all studios were involved in erotic photography, some were involved in capturing events of the day. This page is to honor those who were involved in capturing history through the lens of a camera.
