PORTLAND PEOPLE’S FUND

A fundraising effort to support the whole gay community appears to have begun in 1972. The first known article was published in July 1973 issue of The Fountain newspaper under “Emergency Fund”.

In March 1974, the ERA magazine published a three-page article one year before talking about how Portland’s community was fundraising. “Portland: Raising Consciousness, Raising Money”.

More research is needed. The next item found was an ad in the Northwest Fountain newspaper, February 1982
