See under NEWSPAPERS - The Fountain In the February 1974 issue of the Northwest Gay Review [Northwest Gay Review took over The Fountain newspaper and began publishing its first issue in February 1974] it says, “The Fountain magazine have found new locations in the East Side Commercial Building at 615 SE Alder. Built in 1925, the structure previously housed the headquarters for the life insurance company Woodmen of the World now known as the Melody Ball Room or Melody Events Center. However, it appears that the newspaper never published another copy.

In August 1974 The Golden Awards second ceremony was held on August 25 at the East Side Commercial Building located at 615 SE Alder where, after leaving the Pythian Building some of what was the Portland Gay Community Center moved to. See Awards Golden Awards.
