Article in Cascade Voice newspaper, September 1982 an ad appears “There’s a new JOCK in town…it’s called JOQ’s [formerly the Black Hawk] and under BUSINESS NEWS JOQ’s A favorite N. E. Portland watering hold and meeting place, JOQ’s located at 1422 NE Broadway reports that the recent addition of a beer garden has met with unanimous rave reviews. It continued, JOQ’s is now the sister bar of Cassidy’s a popular Valley establishment and plans are in the works for a close relationship featuring joint activities… [Cassidy’s has bars in Eugene and Salem]"
