Bathhouses

HAWKS PDX

Per the website Hawks PDX:Hawks PDX is one of only two bathhouses in Portland, as of 2018.

If you're trying to cut past the small talk, Hawks is pretty much Grindr IRL. Hawks and Steam are Portland's last two gay bathhouses, and Sunday nights are bisexual nights. If you come in a group, don't expect to stay in one for long.

Hawks PDX hosted an anniversary celebration event in April 2013.[1] The bathhouse hosts bear nights and gender-fluid nights.[2] In 2013, PQ Monthly was informed by Hawks' manager that membership is open to all male-identified people.[3] Writing for Willamette Week, contributor Jack Rushall described Hawks as "Grindr IRL" (a real-life version of Grindr), and "the dive bar bathhouse that feels much more like you're at somebody's house than an upscale gym.” Wikipedia link here.

Per Hawks website: June 25, 2020 Today we are announcing, after almost 10 years, our SE Grand Avenue location has permanently closed. The new location, near Mall 205, is still full steam ahead - however we do not have an opening date set for the NEW Hawks PDX, perhaps around Fall 2020. Our landlord did not give us any rent concessions through the pandemic and the amount of rent due through July was just too much. This, combined with the pandemic closure, pointed to permanently shutting down the SE Grand location. Without you, Hawks PDX would not have grown into the club it has become. We miss our guests and can’t wait to see you -- but there is much work to be done at the new place. Many of you are curious about what it will offer. As we can’t divulge all the details, think bigger, better, and even more sexy fun!

This bathhouse and spa are primarily aimed at gay men, but with bisexual nights on Sundays and Tuesdays open to all genders. The sex swing nook, divided by a chainlink fence, is a favorite spot for both players and voyeurs. There's even a wall of glory holes. The dress code is generally just a towel, but on bi nights lingerie or fetish wear is also acceptable.

Per https://queerintheworld.com/gay-portland-oregon-travel-guide/:

Hawks PDX – A slightly smaller gay sauna in PDX with lockers, dry and steam sauna, video chill room. At Hawk’s we found the clientele to be more beefy, bear types, and Steam more muscular – but there was a lot of overlap. Prices are lower, and there is a sling and a large area for group sex.

Many other bathhouses are listed on page 401 of the book A Curious and Peculiar People, however, none are verified as catering to homosexuals.
