Per an article in the Alternative Connection newspaper, April 1992, COFFEEHOUSE OPENS IN PORTLAND: “Gays and lesbians in the Rose City have a new place to sip coffee, mingle, and enjoy the creative works of local gay artists. Express It is located between Scandals and C.C. Slaughters at 11th and SW Stark, is a combination espresso bar, light fare restaurant, and art gallery, designed to give gay and lesbians a place to relax, socialize, display their artwork.”
