CODE BLUE

1991 -  Per Pat Young’s Sept 11, 2000 draft for GLAPNtimeline, a lesbian dance bar in Portland, opens on October 4 at the Pine Theater. The bar is open only on Friday and Saturday nights and moves to a different location every few weeks.

Per an article in the October 1991 issue of The Alternative Connection New Women’s Bar to Open in Portland: “Code Blue, a new women’s dance bar is opening, October 4, 9 p.m. at Pine Theater, 221 SE 9th. After the close of Club 927 about a year ago, women will have a dance bar again, but this time with a bit of a twist Code Blue will be open only on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m., till 3 and it will have different club locations some weekends. Not to worry, though because the idea is only new to Portland.

[further in the article] There are several advantages. It’s safer and more discreet, and offers a party-like atmosphere to look forward to every weekend.

[further in the article] The D.J. will announce the location the following weekend. Sometimes it be at the same spot for a number of weekends, or at another nice club. There will be flyers on hand for those who only venture out occasionally.

[further in the article] Pine St. offers a huge dance floor, an excellent sound system, and plenty of parking. For more information, call the Code Blue Hotline at 254-9086.
