BEAR HALL SALOON/TAVERN
May 1980 map from the NW Fountain newspaper
Per article in the premiere issue of Cascade Voice, June 1982 under New Pubs pager 23 FLOSSIES Flossie’s, which is located at 1981 Burnside (or for those of you who go by landmarks rather than addresses—it’s just before you make the final assault of the hill to Washington Park) is Portland’s newest addition to the bar scene. Pleasantly decorated in what would best be described as a neo-Victorian-Western-Formica-Greenery décor, it is now in full operation, and the familiar figure none other than—you guessed it, Flossie. (That’s possibly how it got it’s Flossie its name]
Flossie has been in Portland for about 10 years, gaining experience in management from his association with a few of Portland’s bars, including the old Bear Hall, “I have always worked for others, now I have a chance to do my own thing. I learned a lot from my previous 5 employers, and now that I have my own place, I have an even deeper respect for them than I did before. I sincerely hope will feel the same about me!
I tell you what-come to our grand opening June 12 and 13th and we’ll let you know in person how much we appreciate all of you.’ [partial article]
